Background :Embryonic stem (ES) cell-specific transcription factor required to regulate ES cell pluripotency. Binds telomeres and plays a key role in genomic stability in ES cells by regulating telomere elongation. Acts as an activator of spontaneous telomere sister chromatid exchange (T-SCE) and telomere elongation in undifferentiated ES cells.

Western blot analysis of Zscan4 on 293 transfected Zscan4 (1) and 293T (2) cell lysates using anti-Zscan4 antibody at 1/500 dilution.

Flow cytometric analysis of HepG2 cells with Zscan4 antibody at 1/100 dilution (red) compared with an unlabelled control (cells without incubation with primary antibody; black). Alexa Fluor 488-conjugated goat anti-mouse IgG was used as the secondary antibody.
