Background :This gene belongs to the solute carrier 26 family, whose members encode anion transporter proteins. This particular family member encodes a protein involved in transporting chloride, oxalate, sulfate and bicarbonate. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
